The newest member of the Valkyrie Supercomputer Family, is today’s
most powerful SuperComputer Design, incorporating Twisted Double Helix
Limited Distance Network Bus, connecting Adaptive Memory Crossbar design
into a contiguous, ultrahigh speed SuperComputer. The Valkyrie II/XM
is based on the next generation INTEL Pentium I|I/XEON in a parallel-gigabit
crossbar network bus architecture which interconnects 'sub processors consisting
of upto 256,000 tightly coupled 64-Way CPUs (a total of up to 16
million Pentium III/Xeon CPUs) connected tightly by an Adaptive Memory
Crossbar Switch, interlinked by a Twisted Double Helix Network Bus, implemented
using 64 parallel 2 Gigagbit-second datapaths configured to the CSS HELIX/MPS
1.7 specification, AND adhering to PARALLEL-EXTENDED SIMULTANEOUS operation
communications channeling similar to that used by 2GB per second SCSI FIBER
channel conversations and IEE 1394 for maximum compatibility with
standards. HELIX/MPS 1.7 is compatible with Intel's MPS 1.4-1.8 transparently,
using the high speed Helix-net backbone, to extend 64-Way Connectivity
to CSS's new 'Any-Way' Specification: providing literally "any number
of processor" Scalability, limited only to the space available and the
budget for a particular project. The design seeks to deliver as much
as 1,000,000,000,000,000,000 Transactions Per Second (TPS) per application,
in theory enough to process a sixteen data transactions for every living
person on Planet Earth, in less than .02 seconds.
The XM Series is capable of being configured to provide up to 64,000
Quadrillion Logical instructions per second. That's easily the fastest
processing speed possible for any computer for the forseeable computer.
the XM achieves the lightning speed of 64 "Kilo Quads" of instruction processing
using new RAID hard drive with Front Side Cache based on the new MIDGET
Semiconductor discovered by CSS's scientists.
CSS's newest Super Computer Server, the Valkyrie II/XM delivers the
highest degree of reliability, scalability, and serviceability and runs
standard Windows NT Server AND Maximum LINUX software in a "side by side
Virtual" arrangement. The system is configurable with up to 65534 RAID
HDDs (a limit posed momentarily not by the architecture, but by the limitations
of RAID technology and its 127 device per channel proxying) of internal
storage, each drive with a capacity of up to 36.4GB. The Random Access
Memory is up to 64 GB of SDRAM memory Per Intel Pentium III/XEON,
with an upper limit of theoretically as many as 16 Million Pentium II/Xeons
allowable in the design, allowing for sufficient 'headroom' that smaller
configurations can scale with very little scale-management overhead. At
the heart of the Valkyrie II/X is CSS's innovative transparent TWISTED
DOUBLE HELIX Terabit Interconnection of CSS's unique Adaptive
Memory Crossbar Switch, delivering maximum throughput for today’s most
demanding applications.
The design of the Valkyrie Supercomputer will follow the technology
lead, by remaining the peak performer: late in 1998 or early 1999, Intel
will introduce the XEON, its newest Pentium Pro/ Pentium III CPU with 1
MB built in write back, non-blocking Cache running at full speed and supporting
64 bit retrievals and a 36 bit internal bus, running at 500 MHz and Faster.
The Valkyrie II/XM will be there to deliver its remarkable ANY-Way
Processing and, during 1999, will be offered with Scalable Multiprocessing
NT Solutions that use Slot 2 Pentium III/ XEON (and optionally, Slot 1
Pentium II/MMX) Architecture CPUs. Those 1999 Windows 'Next
Technology' engines, running at more than twice the throughput of today's
Pentium II's, will bring the remarkable Intel Windows NT Engine into the
SuperScalable World of Symmetrical Supercomputing, with performance which
equals or surpasses all other advanced Supercomputer systems.
